COVID-19 Situation in Germany

One of the way to look at the pandemic situation in Germany is the state of the active cases. Active cases is the equivalent of the people suffering from coronavirus at a given moment. Here follows a table with the active cases in Germany from the first of January 2021 until the twelfth of January 2021

01/01 Fri 02/01 Sat 03/01 Sun 04/01 Mon 05/01 Tue 06/01 Wed 07/01 Thu 08/01 Fri 09/01 Sat 10/01 Sun 11/01 Mon 12/01 Tue

And here is what happened with the increases or decreases in active cases day per day:

01/01 Fri 02/01 Sat 03/01 Sun 04/01 Mon 05/01 Tue 06/01 Wed 07/01 Thu 08/01 Fri 09/01 Sat 10/01 Sun 11/01 Mon 12/01 Tue
-815% 81% -5% 16% 33% 31% 41% -138% 16% -2308% 92% 57%

The way how he German government is reporting the corona cases is sporadic. The data they supply is presented in charts as v-shaped.

There are two things to say about the active cases in Germany.

  1. There are many people, who are infected with the coronavirus.
  2. And there is a small trend visible, which shows a slight improvement since the beginning of January 2021

But to tell that the pandemic in Germany is reaching alarming levels, I would say no.

The German Vaccination Campaign

Date start vaccine programs Date protection kicks in Days of  vaccination program Number of vaccinations Vaccinations per day Days to complete Years to complete Date complete Part population vaccinated
26/12/20 Sat 09/01/21 Sat  19  688,782  36,666  2,285  6.3 30/03/27 Tue 0.82%

Here you have it. It will take Germany 6.3 years to complete the vaccinations with the current tempo in vaccinating its population. They are already 19 days in the vaccination program, and they vaccinated 688,782 people until now (Jan 13, 2021), an average of 2,265 vaccinations per day. With the 6.3 years, the vaccination campaign ends at the 30th of March 2027.

When you look at the start of the campaign with such low numbers of vaccinations, it's a very bad performance of Germany. Incompetence even. Especially when you must listen to the German politicians and how they insist that the German population must abide to the rules of the coona shutdowns, it's a disgrace.
